Easterling Breaks School Pentathlon Record at ECAC Championships

Senior Alexis Easterling broke the Coppin State school record in the pentathlon and finished second overall at the 2013 ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Easterling finished second with a school-record total of 3,736 points which easily topped the previous record of 3,616 points set by Natoya Baird in 2007. It also bettered her own previous record of 3,580 by over 150 points.

Easterling was edged out for first place by Andrea Nyback of Manhattan who finished with 3,773 points.

Easterling won the long jump competition with a jump of 18-10.00 which earned 771 points. Here top scoring event came in the 60-meter hurdles where she earned 935 points after finishing in a tie for second with a time of 8.88.

She had the fifth-best time in the 800 meters of 2:22.12, which garnered 795 total points. She had the sixth-best high jump mark of 5-1.75 and earned 701 points and had the eighth-best mark in the shot put of 33-0.50 and received 534 points.
