NCCU's McCoy Finishes Ahead Of The Pack At Wake Forest Open
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – North Carolina Central senior Ashley McCoy finished first in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 23.58 seconds this weekend, at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
In addition, McCoy completed the 4x400m relay team of La’Creesha Gore, Ikea Long, and Christa Landy, who finished third with a time of 3:49.18.
The Lady Eagles enjoyed four other top-10 performances. Anthonia Ballard and Delesha Conquest finished fourth (1:03.72) and fifth (1:03.82), respectively, in the 400m hurdles. In the 800m run, Amber Brooks earned a fifth place finish with a time of 2:15.84.
The foursome of Conquest, Sararesa Hudson, Regina Summerville, and Ballard made up NCCU’s second team of the 4x400, finishing seventh at 3:55.39.
On the men’s side, senior Phillip Barren led the Eagles, finishing fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.64 seconds.

SSU Competes In Shamrock Invite
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –The Savannah State women’s outdoor track and field squad competed in the annual three-day Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Lady Tigers finished ninth overall with a team score of six. Sophomore Asia Stinson led the Lady Tigers on the track. Stinson placed sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.84 after qualifying with a time of 12.25.
Jade Bentley finished 17th in the 200m with a time of 25.14. In the 400 meter dash Jazy Seay-Blane placed 14th with a time of 57.10, followed by teammate Aleah Hordges with a time of 57.13.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the Lady Tiger team of Aleah Hordges, Dominique Givance, Seay-Blane and Jaymi White placed seventh with a time of 3:55.94. The team of Stinson, Hordges, Bentley and Seay-Blane placed eighth in the 4x200m with a time of 1:40.26.
White led the Lady Tigers in the field with an eighth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.42m/17-9.25. Rajeanne Jarrett placed 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 11.19m/36.8.5.
Tigers Finish Second In Shamrock Invite
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Savannah State men’s outdoor track and field team finished second in the three-day Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Tigers finished with a team score of 17. SSU was led on the track by freshman Kenshard Hamilton, who placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.47. Hamilton qualified with a time of 10.92 for a fifth place finish.
Darrius Baker finished sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.60. Cameron Hall topped the finals of the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.34 and a sixth place finish. In the 400 meter hurdles Felton Chinn finished 13th with a time of 53.60.
The SSU relay team of Hamilton, Chazwyn Price, Hall and Baker finished second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.17.
The team of Baker, Price, Hall and Gregory Terrell topped the 4x200 meter with a time of 1:25.94 and a third place finish.
In the 4x400 relay, the team of Price, Hall, Lemaar Shakir and Terrell placed seventh in the event with a time of 3:18.34.
In the field, freshman Dolphurs Hayes placed third in the pole vault with a distance of 4.60m/15-1. Andrew Redhead finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.73m/22-1.

Caddle Breaks Two School Records at Shamrock Invitational
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Sophomore Melissa Caddle broke two school records in her outdoor track and field debut at the 2013 Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium.
Caddle broke the Coppin State school records in both the 200 meters and the 100 meters.
She broke the school mark in the 200 meters as she finished second overall in a time of 23.82. Her time topped the previous record set by Indira Laurencin during the 2008 outdoor season.
She also broke the school record in the 100 meters by finishing fifth overall in a time of 11.72, which bettered the previous record of 11.77 set by Lisa Taylor in 1999.
The meet also marked the much-anticipated return of senior Christina Epps who suffered a season-ending knee injury during the same meet last season. Epps finished sixth overall in the triple jump with a mark of 39-2.50, and placed 13th overall in the long jump with a jump of 17-5.25.
Ashley Bacote turned in a personal-record time of 15.00 in finishing 21st overall in the 100 hurdles. The time also ranks fifth all-time at Coppin State in outdoor history.
Bacote also finished 12th overall in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:05.24, and placed 20th in the long jump with a leap of 17-00.75.
Sandra Bonga recorded a 20th-place finish overall in the 200 meters as she finished in a time of 25.20, while the Eagles 4x200 relay team of Javonna Dickerson, Bacote, Paula Smith and Deandra Daniel placed 15th overall in 1:44.32.
