Morgan State was a late addition into the Ursinus College Open hosted by Ursinus College on Friday and captured the team title with 116 points. The Bears also had seven individual winners and 14 top 10 finishers.
Morgan State was originally scheduled to participate in the meet in Boston, Mass., but pulled out due to the weather that hit the Boston region.
Sophomore Aaron Covington led the way as he finished the day with two first place finishes. Covington won the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.33, and posted a 50.46 on his way to capturing the 400m dash.
The Bears had an impressive showing in the 60 meter dash led by Nigel Thompson. The freshman finished first with a personal best mark of 7.00, sophomore Christian Boateng was second at 7.02, while senior Wesley Redfearn Jr. (7.13) and sophomore Aaron Strums (7.25) placed fourth and 10th, respectively.
Thompson also posted a first place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.92m.
Senior DeAndre Robinson won the 800 meter dash in a time of 2:00.75, while sophomore Harold Lamour posted a third place finish in a time of 2:01.39.
Freshman Kenyon Wright won the high jump with a 1:88m, while freshman Keith Davis finished in fourth (1.83m).
Davis also recorded a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.61m.
