The Hampton Lady Pirates recorded 140.50 points to win their third consecutive and 11
th overall women's MEAC indoor title. Maryland Eastern Shore finished in second with 131 points followed by Morgan State in third with 64.50 points.
Maurice Pierce was named the Women's Indoor Outstanding Coach for the 10th time in his career.
"Our track team came through today, because we were down yesterday in points and my hat goes off to my coaching staff and to all of my ladies", explained Pierce. "They did an outstanding job fighting today."
Maryland Eastern Shore's Imani Cox recorded 20 points to earn Outstanding Field Performer honors, while teammate Petra Kubesova totaled 28.50 points to earn Outstanding Runner accolades. Cox won both the weight throw and shot put to win the title. Kubesova won the 5,000m and set a meet record in the women's 3000m with a time of 9:57.64. The previous mark was set in 2002 by Norfolk State's Agatha Gitudndu. She also finished in third in the mile and was a member of the distance medley team that also took home first place honors.
In the field events, Bethune-Cookman sophomore Sasha Smallwood matched her MEAC record in the pole vault with a 3.49m (11-05.25 ft.) leap. NSU's Tiara Davis finished in second with a 3.04m mark (9-11.75 ft.) and Savannah State's Alysia Potts was third with a 2.59m (8-06.00 ft.) mark.
