The defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Indoor Track and Field champion Hampton Lady Pirates and the reigning MEAC Men's Indoor Champion Norfolk State Spartans lead all competitors heading into the final day of the 2013 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md.
On the women's side, Hampton totaled 52.50 points during the second day of competition to take the lead. Maryland Eastern Shore moved into second place with 42 points, while Morgan State is third with 36.50 points.
Coppin State's Alexis Easterling won the pentathlon with 3,580 total points. Hampton's Shantae Boney finished second totaling 3,497 points while Morgan State's Monae Waller earned third place honors with 3,465 total points.
On the men's side, the Norfolk State Spartans head into tomorrow's action with 67 points, The Hampton Pirates are second with 38 points and the South Carolina State Bulldogs rounded out the top three with 31 points.
Keron Stoute of Bethune-Cookman earned first place honors in the heptathlon with 4,659 total points. Hampton Mohamed Labor-koroma was second with 4,489 points and Norfolk State's Marcus Finney was third with 4,445 points.
The competition concludes on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the women's shot put, men's and women's pole vault, and the men's and women's triple jump. Running events begin at 1 p.m. with the women's mile run. Rounding out the afternoon's events will be the men's and women's 4x400m relay race at 3:25 p.m.
