MEAC ANNOUNCES INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD WEEKLY HONORS

South Carolina State freshman Anthony Britt was chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while Morgan State sophomore Aaron Covington and South Carolina State junior Sherril McFarlane were named the MEAC Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. 

Britt (Fr., St. George, S.C., Throws) had a throw of 48-2.0 ft. (14.68m) to finish 16th in the weight throw at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational. His mark is currently seventh in the MEAC in the event this season. He also had a toss of 43-9.0 ft. (13.33m) in the shot put to finish among the top 20.

Covington (So., Litchfield, Ill., Sprints) took home two first-place finishes at the Ursinus College Open, winning the 200m dash with a time of 22.33 and the 400m dash in 50.46. As a team, The Bears finished in first place out of 13 participating teams.

McFarlane (r-Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y., Long Distance) crossed the finish line of the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational 800m run in 2:13.43, which ranks second in the MEAC, to take the gold. She also finished sixth in the distance medley relay (12:36.14) and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that finished tenth (4:00.79).

Other Top Performers:

Barry Bethea (SCSU) ran the 60m hurdles in 8.45 to place third and was seventh in the 400m dash ( 49.39) at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational.
