NORFOLK, Va.- Hampton sophomore Sulaiman Fared, Norfolk State senior John James, and Hampton junior Breana Norman were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, while Norfolk State junior Nathnael Meseret and Coppin State sophomore Melissa Caddle were named the MEAC Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Fared (So., Richmond, Va., Throws) captured the gold in the men's shot put at the CNU Captains Invitational, beating out 23 competitors with a throw of 51-7.25 ft. (15.73m). His throw ranks third in the MEAC in the event this season.
James (Sr., Suffolk, Va., Jumps) cleared 6-10.75 ft. (2.10m) to win the high jump at the CNU Captains Invitational. His jump is the second-best in the MEAC this season and ranks him in the top 50 nationally.
Norman (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va., Jumps) had a jump of 5-8.75 ft. (1.75m) to win the women's high jump at the CNU Captains Invitational. Her mark at this event ranks her 31st nationally.
Meseret (Jr., Dumfries, Va., Long Distance) posted a personal best at the CNU Captains Invitational with a converted mile time of 4:12.91 to win the event. He also finished third in the 3,000m with a time of 8:50.69.
Caddle (So., Brooklyn, N.Y., Sprints) broke her own school record to win the 60m dash with a time of 7.51 at the Great Dane Classic. She also finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.65. Caddle is currently second in the MEAC in the 60m and fifth in the MEAC in the 200m.

Brandon Addison (NCCU) finished first out of 27 runners in the 400m dash with a time of 49.18 at the Virginia Tech University Invitational.
Ricy Brown (B-CU) was second to cross the finish line at the Gator Invitational 800m run, posting a half mile time of 1:54.58.
Jefferson Butler (MSU) had a winning toss of 51-7.00 ft. (15.72m) in the shot put at the Maryland Terrapins Invitational. He also finished 13th in the weight throw with a throw of 40-3.25 ft. (12.27m).
Jeremy Dorsey (CSU) won the 200m dash at the Maryland Terrapins Invitational with a time of 22.60. He also finished third in the 60m hurdles, running a personal best 8.15.
Kadian Dunkley (B-CU) ran a time of 10:19.90 to finish third in the 3,000m run at the Gator Invitational.
Gayon Evans (UMES) took the gold in the 200m dash at the Great Dane Classic, completing the event in 24.45.
La'Quan Howard (B-CU) cleared 49-2.50 ft. (15.00m) in the triple jump at the Gator Invitational, finishing second in the event.
Kiara Howell (NSU) threw a 46-2.00 ft. (14.07m) toss to win the shot put at the CNU Captains Invitational. She also finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 48-2.50 ft. (14.69m).
Nakia Linson (FAMU) finished fifth in the 55m dash with a time of 7.13 and sixth in the 200m dash in 25.46 at the Gator Invitational.
Chidi Okezie (Hampton) ran a first-place time of 49.04 in the 400m and was a part of the 4x400m relay, which finished in 3:22.98 to capture gold at the CNU Captains Invitational.
Troy Pollard (FAMU) recorded a personal best in the 400m dash at the Gator Invitational, winning the event in 48.42. He also finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 22.48.
Sasha Smallwood (B-CU) leaped 11-3.75 ft. (3.45m) to finish fourth at the Gator Invitational.
Benita Taylor (Hampton) anchored the winning 4x400m relay team at the CNU Captains Invitational, finishing in 3:51.26. She also won the 800m run with a time of 2:12.74.
Andre Walsh (UMES) ran a 21.38 in the 200m dash to take second at the Great Dane Classic.
