Former Norfolk State sprinter Chris Brown placed fourth in the men's 400-meter final on Monday night at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, his second straight Olympic fourth-place finish.
Representing the Bahamas in his fourth Olympics, Brown clocked a time of 44.79 seconds. He ran a season-best 44.60 in the semifinals. Brown was beaten out for a medal Monday by Grenada's Kirani James (43.96), the Dominican Republic's Luguelin Santos (44.46), and Trinidad and Tobago's Lalonde Gordon (44.52).
Brown also placed fourth in the 400 meters at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The USA's David Neville dived head-first to edge out Brown for the bronze by .04 seconds.
Next up for Brown is a chance at a second straight Olympic 4x400 meter relay medal. Brown anchored the Bahamas to a silver medal at the 2008 Games, his first career trip to the Olympic medal podium. The 4x400 heats are Thursday and the final is Friday.
Brown, 33, was a Division I All-American at NSU in the 400 meters during both the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
