EUGENE, Ore. -- Coppin State's Jibri Victorian finished 24th overall in the 400-meter hurdles in the opening round of competition at the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon on Thursday.
Victorian, competing in the second of four heats, finished sixth in his heat in a time of 52.21.
Bershawn Jackson won the second heat in 50.59, while LaRon Bennett was second (51.07) and Keyunta Hayes finished third (51.16). The top three finishers automatically advanced to the semifinals on Friday.
Kerron Clement had the top overall time of 49.37, while two-time Olympic champion Angelo Taylor had the second fastest qualifying time of 49.53.
Victorian, who became the first Coppin State athlete to compete at the USA Olympic Trials, recorded his 10th-best time of the outdoor season.
