SC State Track Teams Record 12 Top Ten Finishes at
Shamrock Invite
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –
The SC State track and field teams recorded 12 top ten finishes, eight by the
men, during the three-day Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina at
Doug Shaw Stadium. Over 50 squads from colleges and universities across the
nation participated in the annual event.
The SC State women’s 4x100
meter relay team of Yazmin Hicks, Alexandria Jones, Antavia Owens and Keziah
Brown recorded the school’s only first, completing the course in a time of
46.16. The Lady Bulldogs also got two individual top ten finishes from Jones,
who was third in the 400 meters in a time of 54.6, and ninth in the 200 meters
in a clocking of 24.3, and a ninth-place finish from Yazmin Hicks in the 100
meters in a time of 12.03.
Recording top ten finishes
for the SC State men were Seymour Walter, second in the 800 meters (1:51.64),
Donta Young, third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.27), Xavier Molette, fourth in
the discus with a throw of 4.35m (158-07 ft.), Noel Facey, fifth in the shot
put with a toss of 16.27m (53-04.50 ft.), Lorenzo Johnson, ninth in the pole
vault with a leap of 4.00m (13-01.50 t.), Zackary Hasty, tenth in the 100
meters (10.6), and the 4x100 meter relay team (Young, Marcus Stevens, Hasty and
Eric Sparkman), third in a time of 41.18, and the 4x400 meter relay squad
(Young, Aaron Worthy, Walter and Brandon Lowery), ninth in a clocking of
3:18.25.

Tigers Compete At Shamrock Invitational
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The
Savannah State men's and women's track team participated in the Shamrock
Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Amara Jones led the SSU
women by winning the 400m race and placing second in the 200m. Jones had a time
of 53.52 in the 400m and a time of 23.81 in the 200m. Jazy Seay-Blane had a
time of 55.39 to finish fifth in the 400m race.
In the triple jump, Kim
Wilson had a leap of 12.19m to finish fourth while Amber Hughes was fifth with
a jump of 12.04.
The 4x100m relay team of
Asia Stinson, Jones, Aleah Hordges and Chavonta Roberts was fifth with a time
of 46.77.
Chaz Price led the Savannah
State men with a sixth place finish in the 400m and a ninth place finish in the
200m. price had a time of 47.73 in the 400m and 21.53 in the 200m race.
The 4x100m relay team (Greg
Terrell, Price, Darrius Baker and Cameron Hall) was seventh in their race with
a time of 41.28.
Hall was seventh in then
110m hurdles with a time of 14.73 and Lemaar Shakir was seventh in the 400m
hurdles with a time of 54.51.

Strong Start To Outdoor Season For Hampton Track
HAMPTON, Va. –
The Hampton University men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the
outdoor season this past weekend in separate meet, turning in several outstanding
individual performances.
The Pirates competed in the
Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Thursday, Friday
and Saturday, while the Lady Pirates spent Friday and Saturday at Kentner
Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. competing in the Wake Forest Open.
Senior Reggie Dixon won the
men’s 100-meter dash at the Shamrock Invitational with a meet-record of 10.26.
He was also one of three runners to break the meet record in the 200-meter
dash, coming in second with a 20.71.
The Pirates placed second (3:12.38)
in the 4x400-meter relay; sophomore Je’Von Hutchison, junior Jaleel Rogers, freshman
Edose Ibadi and freshman Mohamed Labor-Koroma teamed up to take the silver.
Sophomore Larry Ramirez ran
a 53.21 in the 400-meter hurdles to come in third, while freshman Chidi Okezie came
in third in the 400-meter dash after running a 47.51.
Senior Devan Clark set a
school record in the discus throw, finishing eighth with a distance of 44.72
meters.
Sophomore Alaine Tate turned
in the Lady Pirates’ best individual effort at the Wake Forest Open, winning
the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.77. She also anchored the distance medley
relay team that came in second at 12:09.94.
Freshman Cassandra Jones ran
a 55.27 to come in second in the 400-meter dash while sophomore Emmy Fraenk ran
a 55.91 to come in fourth.
Sophomore Breana Norman came
in third in the 100-meter dash with an 11.85, while also finishing fourth in
the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.42.
Norman along with Fraenk,
Jones and junior Cearha Miller helped the 4x100-meter relay team earn third (46.05).
The Lady Pirates’
4x400-meter relay team also came in third, running a combined time on 3:42.13.
Fraenk, Jones and Robinson teamed with senior Claudia Calder to take bronze in
the event.
