Baskerville, Burke Lead Coppin State MTF Team

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Brandon Baskerville won the high jump and Romaine Burke captured the long jump leading Coppin State at the 2012 Coach O Invitational on the campus of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Baskerville won the high jump with a seasonal-best jump of 6-10.75, while Burke posted a jump of 23-00.75 to win the long jump title.

Teo Bennett posted a pair of top-five finishes for Coppin State. He finished second in the 60 meters in 6.90 and placed fourth in the 200 meters in 22.21.

Andre Thomas and Hugh Prince also posted a second-place finish for the Eagles. Thomas was second in the mile in 4:31.34, while Prince was second in the 3000 meters in a time of 10:04.92.

Coppin State also received top-five finishes from Kareem Crawford (8.26) and Jeremy Dorsey (8.42) in the 60 hurdles, Chapman (22.34) in the 200 meters, Michael McCoy (52.13) in the 400 meters and Bengallo Morrison (4:39.19) in the mile.

CSU Women Finish Third at Delaware Invitational

NEWARK, Del. -- Sandra Bonga won the triple jump and the 400 meters highlighting the Coppin State performances at the Delaware Invitational.

Bonga won the triple jump with a leap of 37-6.50 and finished the 400 meters in 59.38 to earn a first-place finish. She also placed third in the long jump with an effort of 17-11.50.

Led by Bonga, Coppin State finished third in the team standings with 74.5 points. Delaware won the team title with 199 points, while Navy was second with 182.5 points.

Jennifer Mitchell also recorded a first-place finish for the Eagles as she won the long jump with a jump of 18-00.25. She also was ninth in the 500 meters in a time of 1:31.02.

Christina Epps and Hafsatu Kamara each posted a second-place showing for Coppin State. Epps was second in the 60 hurdles in 9.45, while Kamara was second in the 60 meters in 7.76.

The Eagles 4x400-meter relay team of Shena Brownell, Javonna Dickerson, Onya Boyd and Mitchell finished third in a time of 4:10.96.

Dixion, Hutchinson Win Event Titles at Father Diamond

FAIRFAX, Va. – Hampton University senior Reggie Dixon and sophomore Je’Von Hutchison each won an event title in the Father Diamond Invitational on Saturday, hosted by George Mason University.

Dixon took the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83, while Hutchison won the 500-meter dash after running a 1:04.46.

The Pirates’ 4x400-meter relay ‘A’ squad – made up of freshmen Brien Berry, Mohamed Labor-Koroma, Edose Ibadin and Chidi Okezie– ran a 3:18.61 to finish second.

Freshman Javan Grey threw the shot put 14.47 meters to finish third, while Ibadin ran a 1:57.34 in the 800-meter run to finish fifth.
