Andre Walsh was chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while UMES senior
Vanessa Henry was named MEAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Walsh (Jr., St. Catherine, Jamaica, Sprints) won the 60m dash final with a time of 6.82 at the Great Dane Classic. Walsh also captured the gold in the 200m dash with a time of 21.17 aiding his team to a second place finish out of 22 teams.
Henry (Sr., Capital Heights, Md., Throws) won a pair of events to aid the Lady Hawks to a second place finish at the Great Dane Classic. She set school, meet and personal best distances in both the shot put and weight throw. Her 16.50m toss in the shot put is tied for seventh, while her 19.25m weight throw is 11th in the nation. This is the second straight week that Henry has earned Athlete of the Week accolades.

Ariel Allen (FAMU) captured the gold in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.33 and was among the top 15 finishers in the mile run (5:26.96).
Anthonia Ballard (NCCU) was third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.78 at the CNU Captain's Invitational.
Champagne Bell (NSU) ran a personal best indoor time of 24.93 in the 200m and aided the 4x400m relay team to a time of 3:55.58 at the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational.
Kareem Crawford (CSU) broke his own school record with a time of 8.17 in the 60m hurdles at the Terrapin Invitational.
Je'Von Hutchison (Hampton) won the distance medley run (10:14.76) and was second in the 600m run at the CNU Captain's Invitational.
Tariq Devore (DSU) won the 500m run with a time of 1:03.37 at the Great Dane Classic.
Ketsia Dornevil (DSU) won the 800m run with a time of 2:15.89 at the Great Dane Classic.
Christina Epps (CSU) posted a pair of second place finishes in the triple jump event at the Great Dane Classic (41-00.50 ft.) and the Terrapin Invitational (40-00 ft.).
Amara Jones (SSU) earned second places finishes in the 200m run (24.74) and 400m (55.48) run at the Gator Indoor Invitational.
Derrick Morgan (FAMU) captured the silver medal win the 400m in 48.33 at the Gator Invitational.
Keith Nkrumah (NSU) ran a personal best time of 7.84m in the 60m hurdles at the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational and helped NSU's 4x400m relay team run a season best 3:13.29.
Stephon Pamilton (B-CU) won the 400m and ranks 10th in the nation with a time of 49.00.
Alaine Tate (Hampton) won the 600m run with a time of 1:33.54 and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that won with a time of 3:51.50 at the Terrapin Invitational.
Justin Taylor (SSU) won the triple jump with a 14.65m leap at the Gator Invite.
Nealie Whitt (NCCU) won the shot put with a 14.87m throw at the CNU Captain's Invitational.
