NORFOLK, Va., – Norfolk State University sophomore Champagne Bell and junior Aramis Massenburg have been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Saturday.
Bell (So., Norfolk, Virginia, Sprints/Long Jump) notched a outdoor personal best distance in the long jump (20-0.05 ft), earning gold in the event at the Tribe Open. She also took home a second place finish running a time of 25.03 in the 200m dash.
Massenburg (Jr., Ettrick, Virginia, Hurdles) finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12 at the Tribe Open. He followed his performance with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.84.
Other Top Performers:
Claudia Calder (Ham) placed fourth in the high jump with a distance of 1.64m (5-4.25) while aiding her relay team to a 2nd place finish (3:46.89) in the 4x400 meter relay at the Wake Forest Open.
Martin Embry (B-CU) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (53.70) and ran the fourth leg of the 4x100 meter relay finishing second at the 6th Annual Spring Classic in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Latorria Grier (B-CU) captured fifth place in the 400-meter dash and ran the second leg of the 4x400 meter relay earning a fourth place finish for the Lady Wildcats (3:58.92) at the 6th Annual Spring Classic in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
