2011 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships-Day Two
Landover, Md. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) completed day two of the Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md.
The defending champion Norfolk State Spartans took the lead heading into day three with 73 points. Hampton finished in second with 36 points followed by Delaware State in third with 32 points.
Hampton’s Reggie Dixon broke an indoor championship record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.70. Dixon set the previous mark of 6.71 during the 2009 MEAC Indoor Championships.
In women’s action, the Hampton Lady Pirates totaled 81.50 points through seven scored events. Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) followed in second place with 52 points, while Morgan State finished in third with 39 points.
Maryland Eastern Shore’s Cynthia Anais set a meet record with a time of 2:10.47 in the 800m run. Former UMES Lady Hawk Merrecia James held the previous record of 2:10.57 that she ran at the 2007 championships.
The final day of competition begins tomorrow at 9 a.m., with the women’s pole vault and conclusion of the women’s pentathlon events. Early afternoon field events include the men’s heptathlon, shot put, high jump and triple jump events. The men’s and women’s 4x400m relay will close out the events, followed by the awards ceremony.

Daily admission for the Indoor Track and Field Championships is $5 for adults and $3 for students, children, and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex the day of the event.
