MEAC ANNOUNCES TRACK AND FIELD WEEKLY HONORS

Maryland Eastern Shore junior Vanessa Henry and Florida A&M senior Leon Hunt have been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.

Henry (Jr., Capital Heights, Maryland, Field) broke a school and meet record in the shot put at the Giegnegack Invitational hosted by Yale University. She threw a distance of 15.39m (50-06.00 ft.) breaking her own previous school mark of 15.02m (49-03.50 ft.) set on February 12, 2010. The previous meet record of 15.10m was set by Brown's Brynn Smith on February 6, 2010.

Hunt (Jr., St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Field) captured gold in the long jump at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University. Hunt landed a distance of 7.72m (25-04.00 ft.) which ranks first in MEAC and 12th in the nation in the event.

Owen Cain (UMES) won the triple jump with a distance of 14.26m (46-09.50) at the Giegengack Invitational.

Reggie Dixon (Ham) placed second in the 60m dash (6.65) at the Armory New Balance Collegiate Invitational.

Christina Epps (CSU) set a school record in the triple jump 12.20m (40-00.50 ft.) at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.

Shamire Rothmiller (SCSU) placed first in the shot put with a distance of 14.45 (47-05.00) at the Niswonger Invitational.

Marcus Stephens (SCSU) took gold in the triple jump 15.41m (59-06.75) at the Niswonger Invitational.

Racquel Vassell (Ham) finished eighth in the 60m hurdles (8.31) at the Armory New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
