Racquel Vassell were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Friday.
Walsh (So., St. Catherine, Jamaica, Sprints) took home fist place honors and broke a school record with a time of 6.81 in the 60m dash. The previous mark of 6.83 was set by Allodin Fothergill in 2008. Walsh was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that finished among the top four with a time of 3:22.04 at the NYU Metropolitan Coaches Invitational.
Vassell (Sr., Irvington, New Jersey, Sprints) finished first in the 200m dash with a time of 24.02 at the Penn State Relays. She also finished among the top three in the 60m hurdles (8.54) and the 60m dash (8.48).
Other Top Performers:
Ariel Allen (FAMU) won the 800m run in 2:20.64 and was seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:43.03 at the Ed Temple Classic.
Aaron Anderson (Ham) won the 60m dash in 6.82 and was third in the 200m dash (21.63) at the Penn State Relays.
Tanisha Jenkins (NSU) captured the gold in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.01 and finished among the top 15 in the 500m (1:29.67), high jump (5-1 ft.) and triple jump (36 ft.) at the Father Diamond Invite.
Chelsea Lowe (UMES) set a school record with a 2.88m (7-10.5) throw in the pole vault at the NYU Metropolitan Coaches Invite.
James Taylor (NSU) won the 400m dash with a time of 50.11 and aided the 4x400m relay team to a fourth place finish (3:19.26) at the Father Diamond Invitational.
