FAIRFAX, Va. - James Taylor's victory in the 400 meters and a trio of first-place finishes in field events were among the top performances turned in Saturday by the Spartan men's track team at the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason.
Taylor clocked a time of 50.11 seconds to take gold in the 400 meters. It was his first time running the 400 meters in college.
The Spartan field athletes also had a successful day of competition. Rashad Cannon won the long jump with a top distance of 24 feet, 3.75 inches. That capped a busy day for Cannon, who also ran the 60 meters and triple jumped.
