Aggies' Newman Qualifies for Three Events at NCAAs
North Carolina A&T's Calesio Newman qualified for the NCAA Nationals in the 200m and the 400m dashes at the NCAA East Regional. A day earlier, he qualified in the 100mmaking him the first Aggie in school history to qualify for nationals in three different events. Newman is headed to nationals on June 9-12 for the third time in his career.
Newman qualified by finishing in the top three of his heat. His time of 20.59 is a personal record for Newman and a school record for North Carolina A&T.
In addition to Newman, the threesome of Akinwole Jordan,Darryl Williams and Earl House are headed to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the 4x100m relay.
Sophomore Jarrell Elliott will go as an alternate. The foursome ran a 39.64 to finish 10th.

Three From Hampton Gearing Up For Nationals
Hampton senior Francena McCorory, sophomore Reggie Dixon and junior Aaron Anderson will compete in the 2010 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday through Saturday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
McCorory will compete in the 400m dash, seeded fifth after running a season-best 52.21 in the semifinal heats during the NCAA East Regional. The three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-American will pursue her third career NCAA title.
McCorory finished third in the 400mdash at the 2009 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships after running a school-record 50.58. She also won the 2009 NCAA indoor title with a 51.54, before taking the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship title with an American-record time of 50.54.
McCorory's titles give the Lady Pirates four NCAA championships in program history; Yvette Lewis holds a pair of triple jump titles. She won the indoor triple jump title in 2006, before taking the outdoor crown in 2007.
Dixon and Anderson will compete in the 100m dash. Dixon ran a school-record 10.18 at the NCAA East Regional, posting the ninth-best time in the nation, while Anderson's 10.30 from the regional meet was the 20th-fastest in the country.
Dixon will be seeded sixth in the race, with Anderson seeded 14th.
Dixon finished eighth in the 100m dash at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships after running a 10.38, while also running a 21.77 in the preliminaries of the 200m dash to finish 23rd. He also ran a 21.11 in the 200-meter dash at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships to come in 10th.
Dixon and Anderson will also be joined by juniors Predist Walker and Devon Brown for the 4x100-meter relay. The foursome ran a school-record 39.55 in the NCAA East Regional to qualify, after running a MEAC-record 39.71 on May 8 at the conference championship.
The Pirates will be seeded ninth after setting the 10th-fastest time in the country.
The 4x100-meter relay team last competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2008, when Walker and Anderson teamed up with former Pirates Terry Thornton and Kevin Teel to finish 10th in the preliminary round with a 39.88.
Semifinals for the men's 4x100m relay will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. local time, with the finals coming on Saturday at 10:11 a.m. The men's 100m dash semifinals will also be on Wednesday, at 5:45 p.m., with the finals on Friday at 5:25 p.m.
The semifinals for the women's 400m dash will be held on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m., and the finals coming on Friday at 6:32 p.m. CBS College Sports will televise action live on Friday from 8-10 p.m. EST, with CBS televising the meet on Saturday live from 1-3 p.m. EST.

Hawks Land In Oregon For NCAA Championships
Five runners from Maryland Eastern Shore's outdoor track and field team will embark on the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday through Saturday at the historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
The men's 4x100 relay looks to continue their success as they've already broken the school record three times. The quartet of junior Thomas Keane-Dawes, senior Allodin Fothergill and sophomores Damian Miles and Akheem Gauntlett broke the previous record of 40.33, which was set at the 2009 MEAC Outdoor Championship. The squad broke the 40-second mark with a time of 39.76 at the NCAA Eastern Regional to qualify for this week's NCAA Championships.
Sophomore Jermol Dix will compete in place of Fothergill who is unable to run due to an injury.
Wednesday's running events are kicked off with the 4x100 relay, beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
Sophomore Cynthia Anais is the lone female to compete for the Hawks. She qualified for Nationals in the women's 800-meter run with her school-record breaking time of 2:05.33, which was also set at the Eastern Regional.
The women's 800m follows the 4x100 and is set to begin at 7:45 p.m. EST.
The trip to the NCAA Championships is the first for all five competitors.
All four days of competition consist of only semifinals and finals as the best 24 student-athletes in each event vie for a national title.

Hall Finishes 8th in Track Regional, Advances to Nationals
Senior Raphael Hall tied for eighth in the high jump at the NCAA East Region Track & Field Championship at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T, earning him a spot to the national championship meet which runs from June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.
Hall tied with two other jumpers with a top height of 6 feet, 11 inches. Seven other athletes cleared 7-1 to lead the pack of 12 who will advance to nationals. This will be Hall's second trip to the national meet in his Spartan career. He finished fifth in the region as a sophomore in 2008 and made the national finals.
Buckley Advances to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
Landria Buckley finished fourth in and 12th overall in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.20 to qualify for a trip to Eugene, Oregon to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The trip to Eugene will be the third career appearance at nationals for Buckley.

Charles, Randall Set to Compete for National Titles at NCAA Track & Field Championship
Morgan State will be represented this season in Eugene, as sophomore Trey Charles and senior Allison Randall will be in attendance, competing in their respective events.
The last time Morgan State had athletes competing at the NCAA Outdoor Championship meet was during the 2006 championships in Sacramento, Calif., when the Lady Bears' Brittany Robinson (high jump) along with current assistant coach Janice Smythe (400 meter hurdles) both qualified. The last Bear to make it on the men's side was Jean Cummings, who in 2002 competed in the long jump at the NCAA championships in Baton Rouge, La.
Both Charles and Randall positioned themselves for an opportunity for a national title last weekend when they secured their spots at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Charles, a native of Atlanta, Ga., placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 50.36, while Randall, a native of Reisterstown, Md., also finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 172-09.
Charles is seeded 14th out of 24 competitors in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 50.32, which he ran during the semifinals round at the NCAA East Regional.
Randall is seeded ninth out of 24 competitors in the discus with a seed mark of 172-73.

DSU RELAY TEAM ADVANCES TO NCAA NATIONALS
Delaware State University's men's outdoor 1600-meter relay team will compete in the NCAA national championships for the second straight year.
The Hornet 1600-meter relay team of Burton Clarke, Ryan Carter, Kevaughn Laviea and Donte Holmes earned a trip to the 2010 NCAA national championships after finishing seventh at the East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., with a time of 3:06.06.
Delaware State, the 2010 MEAC outdoor 1600-meter relay champion, is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA national championships. The Hornets fell short of the national finals in 2009. DSU was 10th in the '09 preliminaries.
