CSU?s Dunn Named to ESPN The Magazine All-Academic Team

Coppin State junior Dale Dunn was named to the ESPN The Magazine men's track and field and cross country Academic All-District 2 first team.

The announcement of the academic all-district teams were made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. Dunn earned all-conference honors in cross country during the fall season, and placed second in the 800 meters at the MEAC Indoor Championships. Additionally, he anchored the Eagles 4x400 relay team which placed second at the MEAC Indoor Championships and placed fifth in the mile at the conference championships.

Dunn is one of 10 student-athletes named to the first team and is one of five underclassmen to make the squad. He currently has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in management science.

It marks the second consecutive season that Dunn has been named to the District 2 first team.

Dunn, who is from Kingston, Jamaica, now moves on to the national ballot where he will be considered for academic All-America honors.

To be eligible for consideration for the all-district team, student-athletes must have reached sophomore class status and maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average.

Coppin State has had four student-athletes earn academic All-America honors. Ian Roberts (1998), Nickie Peters (2002 and 2003), Beryl Harris (2002) and Steve Delice (2007) each earned honors previously.
