Csu?s Dunn Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

Coppin State junior Dale Dunn was named to the ESPN The Magazine men's track and field and cross country Academic All-America second team.

The announcement of the academic All-America teams were made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Dunn earned all-conference honors in cross country during the fall season, and placed second in the 800 meters at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Additionally, he anchored the Eagles 4x400 relay team which placed second at the MEAC Indoor Championships and placed fifth in the mile at the conference championships.

Dunn becomes the eighth Coppin State student-athlete to earn academic All-America honors and the fourth men's track and field honoree joining Ian Roberts (1998), Beryl Harris (2002), Nickie Peters (2002, 2003) and Steve Delice (2007).

Dunn is one of 46 student-athletes named to the All-America team, which consists of a first, second and third team. He is one of 14 members of the second team and also is one of only 14 underclassmen to earn the honor. He currently has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in management science.

Dunn, who is from Kingston, Jamaica, has earned First Team All-Academic District 2 honors in each of the past two seasons.

To be eligible for consideration for the all-district team, student-athletes must have reached sophomore class status and maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average.
