Norfolk State Wins 2010 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Title

The Norfolk State Spartans won the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

In men's action, The Spartans tallied 150.50 points en route to their fifth consecutive men's MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Maryland Eastern Shore finished second with 112 points and North Carolina A&T followed in third with 91 points.

North Carolina A&T's Robert Boulware posted 17 points in the field events and was named Outstanding Field Athlete. Norfolk State's Amos Kipkosgei tallied 26 points on the track to earn Outstanding Runner.

Norfolk State Kenneth Giles was named the Outstanding Coach.

"Our athletes performed the way we expected them to perform," explained Giles. "Our guys prepared hard and worked through injuries. We are bringing another championship back to Norfolk State."

The Hampton 4x100m relay team of Aaron Anderson, Predist Walker, Devon Brown and Reggie Dixon set a MEAC record with a time of 39.71. The previous mark of 39.81 was achieved by the Florida A&M in 2004.
