MEAC Announces Track and Field Weekly Honors

Bethune-Cookman junior Eric Cray and senior Ron Danielle  Williams were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.

Cray (Jr., San Antonio Texas) guided his team with one individual and two team victories at the UNF Osprey Challenge.  He won the 400mh hurdles with a time of 53.93 and ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay team that finished first in 41.37.  He was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that captured the gold in 3:17.27. As a team, the Wildcats tallied 113 points and earned a third place finish.   


Williams (Sr., Titusville, Fla.) won the shot put with a 14.98m (4-01.75 ft.) toss at the UNF Osprey Invite. The mark set a facility record and is among the top in the MEAC in the shot put this season. Williams also finished second in the discus with a 43.13m (141-06 ft.) throw. As a team, the Lady Wildcats posted a third place showing out of six schools.  

Other Top Performers:

Jonathan Bridle (UMES) set a school record in the javelin event with a 52.28m throw at the MSU Legacy Meet. The previous school mark of 52.15 was set on May 5, 2006.

Micsha Carson (MSU) earned two second place finishes in the long jump (18-08.50 ft) and javelin (97-00 ft.) at the MSU Legacy Meet. Carson also finished just shy of the top five in the heptathlon with 4,174 points.

Christina Epps (CSU) set a school record and won the triple jump with a 40-08.25 ft. jump at the MSU Legacy Meet.

Tierra Flowers (NSU) was second in the 100m with a time of 11.69 at the MSU Legacy Invite.

Katherine Forrester (NCAT) won the discus with a mark of 136-05 ft. and was second in the shot put with a toss of 44-06.75 ft. at the International Friendship and Freedom Games.

Eunice Jones (UMES) won the 1500m in 4:42.95 and aided her team to a first place finish in the 4x400m relay at the MSU Legacy Meet with a time of 3:55.80.

Janean Morris (Ham) won the 800m in 2:12.55 and was second in the 1,500m with a time of 4:48.10 at the International Friendship and Freedom Games.
