MEAC Announces Track and Field Weekly Honors

Hampton University junior Reggie Dixon and senior Racquel Vassell were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.

Dixon (Jr., Plainfield, New Jersey, Sprints) won two individual first-place titles at the Navy Invitational. The junior is second in the nation with a time of 6.70 in the 60m dash and leads the nation with a time of 21.11 in the 200m dash.

Vassell (Sr., Irvington, New Jersey, Sprints) finished first in the 60m hurdles with at time of 8.41 at the CNU Holiday Open. The senior's time leads the nation in the event. Vassell also finished third in the 60m dash with a time of 7.61.

Other Top Performers:

Champagne Bell (NSU) had three top four finishes at the CNU Holiday Open including second in the long jump (18-7.75 ft.) and 400m (58.13). She also took home a fourth place finish in the 200m dash (25.76).

Marcus Brown (UMES) captured the gold in the shot put with a 15.80m (51-ft.) throw at the Navy Invite. He also placed among the top three in the weight throw with a 15.01m (49-03 ft.) mark.

Sean Holston (NSU) won the 60m dash with a time of 6.74 and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that captured the gold with a time of 3:18.41 at the CNU Holiday Open.
