The Morgan State men's indoor track and field team had quite a weekend at the Golden Flash Gala, hosted by Kent State. The Bears captured two events and placed three in the top five, while two IC4A marks.
Calvin Dascent won the 400 meter dash in a time of 48.21, which is the second fastest time in the nation and is the top time in the MEAC and IC4A Conference. Dascent would later join Jordan Higgs, Carbinere Whyte and Trey Charles to help the Bears win the 4X400 meter relay in a time of 3:13.65. Morgan State's finish is the third fastest time in the nation this season and also qualifies for the MEAC and IC4A.
Isaac Richardson ran a time of 1:55.65 in the 800 meter run to place fifth and qualify for the MEAC championship, while Whyte had a top 10 finish, placing ninth in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.00 to also qualify for the MEAC championship.
Other individuals to qualify for the MEAC championship were Jordan Higgs (400 meter dash, 49.50), Emmanuel Stewart (weight throw, 47-10.00), Yao Adantor (weight throw, 47-01.75) and Ryan Currie (60 meter dash, 7.06).
Morgan State will next compete in the NYC Gotham Cup and Armory Invitational in Manhattan, N.Y. on Jan. 14-15.
