Lauren McNary and Landria Buckley have earned at-large bids to the NCAA Championship, it was announced yesterday.
McNary finished sixth overall in the final round of the 400m dash (52.97). That mark put her just shy of the automatic qualifying standard, but all sixth-12th place finishers were pooled for at-large bids. McNary's time earns her the 13th highest mark in the nation in that event.
Buckley's 13.38 in the 100m hurdles puts her 22nd overall. The junior also qualified in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.22, the 23rd highest mark in the country. Buckley placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in those events during regional action last weekend.
Buckley earned All-American honors as a sophomore in 2008.
"We are very pleased to have two student-athletes make nationals," said head coach Michael Merritt. "We're in a great position and hope to advance far in the championship."
The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship will be held June 10-13, 2009 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
