Coppin State sophomore Dale Dunn was named to the ESPN the Magazine men's track and field and cross country Academic All-District II first team.
The announcement of the academic all-district teams were made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. Dunn earned all-conference honors in cross country during the fall season, while also being a member of the Eagles 4x800-meter relay teams that established school records during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Dunn is one of 10 student-athletes named to the first team and is one of only two underclassmen to make the squad. He currently has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in management science.
Dunn, who is from Kingston, Jamaica, now moves on to the national ballot where he will be considered for academic All-America honors.
To be eligible for consideration for the all-district team, student-athletes must have reached sophomore class status and maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average.
Coppin State has had four student-athletes earn academic All-America honors. Ian Roberts (1998), Nickie Peters (2002 and 2003), Beryl Harris (2002) and Steve Delice (2007) each earned honors previously.
