Bethune-Cookman’s Ronnie Ash posted a time of 13.27 to win the 110m hurdle title, Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The final day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships arrived at John McDonnell Field as two Wildcats sought to take home national titles. After a week of ever-changing weather, the sun stayed out and the weather was outstanding. Joel Redhead opened competition for B-CU in the 200m dash, while Ronnie Ash took on Jason Richardson (South Carolina) in the 110m Hurdles. Ash was victorious and added another national hurdling title to his credit, to go with his NCAA Indoor Title in the 60m hurdle from earlier this year.
Redhead competed in the finals of the 200m dash after slicing his time significantly in the semifinal. In today's race, he finished eighth in the NCAA in a time of 21.15, for his final competition as a Wildcat.
Ash stepped up to the challenge and maintained his focus through a much hyped competition between himself and Jason Richardson of South Carolina, in the 110m hurdle event. Ash went beyond expectations, not only defeating Richardson, but also cutting a significant amount off his previous best times to blow out the competition. The sophomore finished in a career-best time of 13.27 seconds, ahead of Richardson at 13.49, to claim the national outdoor title.
