Junior sprinter Allodin Fothergill advanced out of the first round men's 400-meter dash at the Outdoor Track and Field National Championship at McDonnell Field Wednesday.
The 2008 Beijing Olympian for his native Jamaica ran 46.01, the fifth fastest time in the opening round to move on to the preliminaries set for Friday, June 12 at 7:25 p.m.
Fothergill earned an automatic qualification to the next round after coming in third in heat three, topping student-athletes from Charlotte and Sam Houston State in the five-man heat.
