The Norfolk State women's track and field seven East Regional qualifiers competed on Friday at Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.
Freshman Shanneka Claiborne ran an 11.81 in the preliminaries of the 100 meters, while junior Allyssa Pickett ran a 1:02.05 in the prelims of the 400-hurdles. Neither athlete made it back to the finals.
The 4x100 relay team of Tierra Flowers, Wanetta Kirby, Portia Davenport and Claiborne was disqualified for a bad exchange between Davenport and Claiborne.
The Spartans other regional qualifier, MEAC Outdoor pole vault champion Katie
Wright, failed to clear the opening height of 12 feet (3.66 meters).
