David Breaks School Record at IC4A Championships

The 2009 ECAC and IC4A Outdoor Track & Field championships got underway on Friday at Weaver Stadium. While neither Morgan State team has yet to score, the men did have an athlete qualify for the NCAA Regionals after the opening day, while breaking a school record.

The Bears’ Justus David qualified for the NCAA Regional in the 5000 meter run after finishing 10th in the event with a personal-best time of 14:11.98. His time just met the qualifying mark of 14:12.00 that was needed. David, who was one of 10 runners out of a field of 35 to qualify for the Regional championships in the event, shattered the school record, as well as his previous personal-best, which he set during the Morgan State Legacy Meet (4/18) in a time of 14:52.07.

The championships continue on Saturday, May 16, with the conclusion of the ECAC heptathlon at 9:30 a.m., followed by the IC4A decathlon.
