Junior Allodin Fothergill and senior Celia Whyte each qualified for NCAA regional competition in the 400 and 800 meters at the Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track Friday.
Fothergill finished fourth in the 400 in a time of 46.32 and Whyte was seventh in the 800 in 2:09.77.
Freshman Cynthia Anais was 12th in the 44-athlete field in 2:12.01.
Freshman Eunice Jones ran her personal-best 800 on an outdoor track as well. Jones crossed 20th in 2:13.63.
The meet continues Saturday at 9 a.m., with the running of the 4x1,600-meter relay. UMES will run in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays and throw in the women's shot put and javelin.
