Bethune-Cookman senior Ron Danielle Williams and sophomore Ronnie Ash were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Williams (Sr., Throws, Titusville, Florida) won the women’s college division shot put event at the 115th annual Penn Relays with a toss of 15.40m (50-06.25 ft.). She also took home a sixth place finish with a throw of 46.93m (153-11 ft.) in the discus.
Ash (So., Sprints/Hurdles, Raleigh, North Carolina) earned a second place finish in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.58 at the Penn Relays. He also ran the third leg of the 4x100m relay team that took home third place honors with at time of 40.13.
Other Top Performers:
Janet Brown (NSU) jumped 18-10.75 ft. to finish eighth in the Eastern section of the long jump at the Penn Relays.
Akheem Gauntlett (UMES) ran the anchor legs of the 4x100m and 4x200m relays that finished among the top 20 at the Penn Relays.
Vanessa Henry (UMES) won the college women's eastern shot put event at the Penn Relays with a toss of 14.76m (48-05.25 ft.).
Racquel Vassell (Ham) ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay team that won with a time of 45.21 at the Penn Relays. She also competed in the 4x200m (1:35.75), 4x400m (3:58.93) and 100m hurdle (13.80) events.
Predist Walker (Ham) qualified for the NCAA regional with a time of 14.21 in the 110m hurdles at the Penn Relays.
