MEAC Announces Track and Field Weekly Honors

Norfolk State University junior Tia Miles and  Bethune-Cookman sophomore Ronnie Ash were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Friday.

 

Miles (Jr., Richmond, Virginia) led her team to a first place finish at the Hampton Relays. She set a school record and finished second in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:14.13.

 

Ash (So., Raleigh, North Carolina) set a stadium record and qualified for the NCAA regional with a first-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the Miami Elite Invitational. His time of 13.58 is first in the MEAC in the event this season. He also competed in the 200m (24.04) and took home second place honors in the 4x100m relay with at time of 40.32.

 

Other Top Performers:

 

Aaron Anderson (Ham) qualified for the NCAA regional with a time of 10.52 in the 100m dash at the Hampton Relays. He was also a member of the first-place 4x100m (40.78) and 4x200m relay (1:26.55) teams.

Daniel Kinney (How) won the gold in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.62 and the 400m hurdles in 53.48 at the Lou Onesty Invite.

Rachel Lewis (Ham) won the long jump with a 5.59m leap at the Hampton Relays.

Ron Danielle Williams (B-CU) won the discus with a 44.17m (144-11 ft.) toss at the Miami Elite Invitational. She also qualified for the NCAA regional with a second place throw of 14.83m (48-08 ft.).

Marlon Woods (NSU) qualified for the NCAA regional with a 24-09 ft. leap in the long jump at the Sea Ray Relays. He also ran the anchor leg on 4x100m relay team that finished in fifth with a time of 40.98.
