Norfolk State University senior Portia Davenport and Hampton University sophomore Reggie Dixon were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Davenport (Sr., Dale City, Virginia) finished among the top 15 in the 100m at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 12.55. She was also a member of all three relay teams that competed at last week’s meet. The senior aided her team to a top ten finish in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:40.08. She also competed in the 4x100m (47.14) and 4x400m (4:01.30) relay races.
Dixon (Jr., Plainfield, New Jersey) qualified for the NCAA regional with a first-place finish in the 100m dash. His time of 10.51 is first in the MEAC in the event this season.
Other Top Performers:
Christopher Harrison (HOW) qualified for the NCAA regional in the 400m dash with a sixth place finish time of 46.91 at the Raleigh Relays.
Craig Johnson (B-CU) won the shot put with a throw of 14.61m (47-11.25 ft.) and the discus with a 44.67m (146-07 ft.) toss at the UCF Knights Invitational.
Hampton Women’s Relay Team won the 4x100m and 4x200m relay races with a time of 45.16 and 1:35.09, respectively at the Raleigh Relays.
Josef Tessema (NSU) ran a personal-best time of 3:53.43 in the 1,500m at the Raleigh Relays.
