Baird, Taylor Lead Eagles At Maryland Invitational

Senior Natoya Baird won the high jump and Shekinah Taylor placed third in the long jump leading the Coppin State women's track and field team at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational on Saturday in the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.

Baird won the high jump by clearing 5-6, which capped an outstanding meet for the senior. She placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 36-8.50, finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.89 and was seventh in the long jump with a personal-best jump of 17-9.75.

Taylor was third in the long jump and improved on her personal best. She jumped 18-2.50, which ranks as her top effort in the event, and ranks second all-time at Coppin State. She also was eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 35-1.75 and finished 24th in the 60 meters in 8.35.

The Eagles also received top-10 finishes from Quantikia Stepney and Samantha Leigh.

Stepney won her heat in the 800 meters and placed sixth overall with a time of 2:24.95, while Leigh was eighth in the 400 meters in 1:00.77 and finished 10th in the 200 meters in 26.64.
