Former MEAC Tracksters Advance In Beijing

Former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) student-athletes, David Oliver of Howard and Chris Brown of Norfolk State, advanced in the 110m hurdles and 400m dash, respectively, this morning during the XXIX Summer games in Beijing, China.

Oliver, who is competing for the USA, finished with a time of 13.16 during the 110m hurdle event to advance to tomorrow’s semifinal. His first place quarterfinal finish was the top time among the four heats and the fastest during the summer games.

Brown ran a semifinal time of 44.59 to finish second during his heat in the 400m dash and will represent the Bahamas as he advances to Thursday’s final. He will also be a member of Bahamas’ 4x400m relay team that is set to race on Friday, August 22. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Allodin Fothegill will also compete during that event for Jamaica as a part of their 4x400m relay team.
