The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams had some impressive performances against some top competition at the International Friendship & Freedom Games, Sunday. The Lady Rams stood out in the track events with a number of top ten finishes at the event.
WSSU senior Irene Jeptolo had the best individual finish of the day finishing second in the women’s 1500m run in a time of 4:58.64. WSSU junior Wykeita Barnett qualified for the finals of the women’s 100m dash and placed 14th in the finals in a time of 12.50. Sophomore Jessica Peaks 13th in women’s 100m hurdles in a time of 16.76. Freshman Persha Lane placed 15th in a time of 17.20.
Lane was not done, however, as she placed fifth in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.53m (5’00.25”). Peaks tied her for the same height.
The Lady Rams will return to action next weekend when they take part in the 115th Penn Relays.
