It was time for the Rams’ middle distance and field athletes to take the spotlight, Friday and the squad did not disappoint with some great times and distances at the 2008 Raleigh Relays at the newly renovated Derr Stadium. The Rams had some great performances at the event.
WSSU freshman thrower Mark Brown had some fantastic performances on the day with a pair of solid throws. He had the best individual finish of the day, finishing 18th in the men’s discus with a throw of 41.32m (135’ 7”). He was also strong in the men’s weight throw finishing 24th with a throw of 13.13m (43’1”). Junior jumper Nathan Summerville had a great finish in the men’s long jump with 1.95m (6’04.75”) in the event.
The Rams also had some great finishes in the men’s 400m dash with senior Gerrod Sidbury leading the way, placing 26th in the event with time of 48.42. Freshman Cornell Jones also had a promising finish in the event, placing 76th in a time of 50.88.
The Rams will return to action tomorrow when the team closes out the two-day event.
