Hampton University freshman Raquel Vassell and Norfolk State University sophomore Marlon Woods were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Vassell (Fr., Irvington, New Jersey) finished first among 16 competitors in the 100m dash with a time of 11.90 at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Vassell also placed third in the 200m with a time of 24.28.
Woods (So., Norfolk, Virginia) qualified for the NCAA Regionals in both the long jump and the triple jump at the Spartans first outdoor meet of the season. Woods finished first in the long jump with a school-record leap of 25-04.50 ft (7.73m). He followed with at sixth place finish in the triple jump with a 49-03.50 ft (15.02m) leap. Woods was also a member of the 4x100m relay team that finished in second place with a time of 40.93.

Garrett Blakley (SCSU) placed second at the Hurricane Invitational with a time of 47.27 in the 400m dash.
Allodin Fothergill (UMES) finished fourth out of 109 runners in the 200m with a time of 2119 at the Wake Forest Open.
Wanetta Kirby (NSU) won the triple jump at the Wake Forest Open with a 19-01.50 (5.83m) leap.
Dianne Munroe (B-CU) recorded a time of 55.60 in the 400m dash to finish sixth at the Hurricane Invitational.
Calesio Newman (NCAT) qualified for the NCAA Regional at the Wake Forest Open with a time of 20.89 in the 200m.
Joel Redhead (B-CU) qualified for the NCAA Regionals and posted a school record with his first place time of 46.82 in the 400m at the Hurricane Invitational.
Tanisha Wisdom (UMES) finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.01 at the Wake Forest Open.
