Rams Close Out Wake Forest Open With Great Performances

 The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field team had a great showing in front of the hometown crowd on day two of the 2008 Wake Forest Open. The Rams closed out the meet with some top notch performances that gave the WSSU fans an up close look at the team’s progress and potential.

WSSU junior sprinter Richard Marcellus had the best finish of the day for the Rams, placing 26th in the men’s 200m dash with a time of 22.22 in the event. He left 82 sprinters behind in the event. Also placing well in the event was WSSU senior Gerrod Sidbury, who finished 55th in a time of 22.69.

The Rams also had some great performances in the men’s 400m hurdles as WSSU junior Jordan Holley finished 23rd in the event in a time of 57.90. Rams sophomore James Legins, III was also strong in the event, finishing 30th in a time of 59.41.

The Rams will return to action next weekend when the team takes part Adidas Invitational in Raleigh, NC and hosted by North Carolina State.
