CONWAY, SC ? The Winston-Salem State Rams track & field team continued their strong start to the outdoor season when the team posted a number of top finishes on day two of the Coastal Carolina Invitational. It was the WSSU sprinters who took center stage at the meet with a host of great finishes and times.
The Winston-Salem State 4x400m relay team had the best finish of the day as the squad placed second in the event in a time of 3:17.34. The team left teams from East Carolina, Liberty, and host Coastal Carolina in their wake.
WSSU senior sprinter Gerrod Sidbury had the best individual finish of the day, placing third in the men’s 400m dash in a time of 48.49. Rams freshman Cornell Jones also had a great effort placing 19th in the men’s 800m run in a time of 2:00.64.
The Rams will return to action this weekend when the squad takes part in the 2008 Wake Forest Open at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University.
