Delaware State’s men’s indoor 4x800-meter relay team set a new school record during a second place finish at the Collegiate New Balance Invitational in New York City on Saturday.
The DSU team of Duke Mack, Christopher Walker, Daeshon Davidson and Donte’ Walker completed the course in a time of 7:36.36, trailing only first place Connecticut (7:35.00).
The Hornets finished ahead of Oklahoma (4th), Illinois (5th), Princeton (7th), Virginia (8th), Seton Hall (9th), Texas (10th), and Duke (11th). Delaware State’s 4x800-meter relay team has already qualified for next month’s IC4A championships, and its time in the Collegiate New Balance meet is expected to rank among the top 10 in the nation this season.
Delaware State also placed fourth (out of 11) in the 4x200 meter relay.
The team of Larrone Moore, Lee Banres, Brycen Davis and Andre Easton ran the race in a time 1:27.93. Donte' Holmes was the Hornets' top individual performer placing 11th in the 800-meter run.
