MEAC Track and Field Weekly Honors

 North Carolina A&T State University sophomore Kimona Smith and Coppin State University freshman Dale Dunn were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Smith (So., St. Thomas, Jamaica) finished first among 44 competitors in the triple jump with a 12.20m (40-05 ft.) leap at the New Balance Invitational in New York, NY. She placed fourth among 64 athletes in the long jump with a 5.97m mark (19-07 ft.).




Dunn (Fr., Staten Island, New York) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 1:50.24 and a third place finish out of 29 runners at the New Balance Invitational. Dunn’s 800m time is the fastest in the MEAC this season and ranks third in the Coppin State record books. Dunn also ran the lead leg on the Eagles’ 4x400m relay team that finished sixth with a time of 3:13.05, which is the fastest 4x400m relay time in the MEAC this season.

Other Top Performers:

Ronnie Ashe (B-CU) finished third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.86 at the New Balance Invitational.

Allodin Fothergill (UMES) finished third at the New Balance Invitational in the 400m dash with a time of 47.00.

Brandon Harris (NSU) recorded a personal-best 6.37 in the 55m and helped his team to a sixth place time in the 4x400m relay at the CNU Vince Brown Invitational.

Tanisha Kendrick (MSU) finished third in the 500m run, out of 51 runners, at the New Balance Invitational with a time of 1:13.79.

Dianne Munroe (B-CU) ran a personal-best 7.51 and finished fifth in the 60m dash at the New Balance Invitational.

Tanisha Wisdom (UMES) finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 53.68 in the finals at the New Balance Invitational.
