University of Maryland Eastern Shore senior Tanisha Wisdom and Norfolk State University sophomore Corey Vinston were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Wisdom (Sr., St. Catherine, Jamaica) qualified for the 60-meter dash with a time 7.85 and won the event in 7.91 at the UMES Coach “O” Invite. Wisdom posted a victory in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.66, which is currently the second fastest 200-meter dash time in the MEAC this season. Wisdom also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay helping her team earn a first-place finish with a time of 4:00.50.
Vinston (So., Hampton, Virginia) ran an NCAA provisional time of 6.69 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash and followed with a first-place time of 6.73 in the finals of the George Mason Father Diamond Invitational. Vinston was the top collegiate performer in the long jump with a 7.33m leap (24-00.50 ft.), which earned him a third place showing behind two unattached runners. As a team, the Spartans earned a first-place finish out of 13 competing teams with 141.50 points, which was 49.50 points higher than second-place George Mason.

Paul Jones-Burden (UMES) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.35 in a field of 17 runners at the UMES Coach “O” Invite.
Jennifer Chichester (NSU) helped her team to a first-place finish at the George Mason Father Diamond Invite with a second-place time of 5:22.72 in the mile run.
Kenya Jones (Ham) won the mile run at the UMES Coach “O” Invite with a time of 5:24.56. Jones also won the 1000-meter run a day later at the George Mason Father Diamond Invite with a time of 3:06.76.
Carlinton Morgan (CSU) recorded a season-best time of 1:56.12 and a first-place finish in the 800-meter race at the UMES Coach “O” Invite.
