Franklin Earn Two Wins At The Great Dane Invite

 Delaware State’s Nekisha Franklin continued her string of winning performances with two first-place finishes at the Great Dane Indoor Track & Field Classic in New York Friday evening.

Franklin, a New York native, took first place in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. In the 60, she posted a winning time of 7.52 seconds. Delaware State’s Ashley Blake was fifth in the 60 (7.75). In the 200, Franklin topped the field with a time of 24.39 seconds.

It marks the third straight event that Franklin has won the 60-meter dash. She has finished first in either the 60 or 200 in each of Delaware State’s four competitions this season. DSU’s Cuquie Melville was third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26 seconds. She was also tied for sixth in the high jump with a top leap of 1.6 meters.

Delaware State’s Kendra Mayers earned two top five finishes. Mayers was fourth in the long jump (5.66m) and the triple jump (11.79m). The Hornets were also fourth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 3:54.53.
