Delaware State Collects Eight Top 5 Finishes At New York Meet

The Delaware State women’s indoor track and field team had eight top five finishes, including winning performances by Nekisha Franklin and Kendra Mayers, at the NYC Gotham Cup in New York City this weekend. Franklin, a New York native, topped all collegiate runners in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51 seconds.

It marked the second straight competition that she won the 60-meter race, following a first place finish at Delaware last week. Mayers took first place in the long jump with a top leap of 5.61 meters. Cuquie Melville was second in the 500-meter dash with a time of 59.37 seconds.

Jasmine Rogers (8.94 sec.) and Seleena Abdur-Rasheed (8.98) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Christen Dillard was fifth in the high jump (1.65m) and triple jump (11.33m).
