Vernon Dennis rejoined the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in May 2026 as Assistant Commissioner for Brand Strategy & Engagement. In this role, he helps oversee the conference’s marketing and branding initiatives, drives attendance across MEAC events and member institutions, strengthens alumni engagement, advances academic excellence initiatives, and develops innovative storytelling strategies that highlight the achievements of MEAC students, faculty, and alumni through social media, digital production, and strategic partnerships.
A visionary leader and creative strategist, Dennis brings extensive experience and a broad network spanning sports, entertainment, community engagement, philanthropy, and business development. His expertise in brand management, public relations, and relationship-building has positioned him as a respected professional across multiple industries.
Prior to joining the MEAC, Dennis served as Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Lamar Jackson Enterprises from February 2023 to May 2026. In this role, he managed public relations efforts for two-time NFL Most Valuable Player and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. He also oversaw marketing initiatives and business operations for several ventures owned by Jackson and his family, expanding brand visibility, strengthening community partnerships, increasing social media engagement, and serving as a trusted liaison between business, community, and corporate stakeholders.
Throughout his career, Dennis has built a reputation for leading with trust, loyalty, and integrity—values that have fueled his success in marketing, public relations, media relations, and community engagement.
Before joining Lamar Jackson Enterprises, Dennis spent seven years working in the National Football League, serving in public relations roles with the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and Baltimore Ravens. During that time, he gained extensive experience in media operations, strategic communications, player relations, and organizational branding.
Dennis began his professional journey at Old Dominion University, where he worked in ODU Athletics under the leadership of Carol Hudson, Eric Bohannon, and Grant Deppen. He also served as a communications intern for the MEAC during the 2015–16 academic year under the leadership of Dr. Dennis E. Thomas. During his internship, he worked closely with current MEAC executive staff members Commissioner Sonja Stills, Deputy Commissioner Raynoid Dedeaux, and Associate Commissioner for External Relations Cesley Tafoya.
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Old Dominion University. He is a proud member of the Tau Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., having been initiated in Spring 2013 at Old Dominion University.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dennis enjoys traveling, attending live sporting events, meeting new people, playing sports, and spending time with his two sons.
