Alysse Scripter joins the MEAC Conference office after serving as the Associate Sports Information Director at Norfolk State University for the last eight months.
While at Norfolk State, Scripter was responsible for coverage of the Spartan women's volleyball team, women's basketball program, and softball team. She was the on-site tournament director for the 2023 MEAC Softball Championship tournament hosted by Norfolk State on May 10-13, 2023. Additionally, she assisted with creating and editing graphics for NSU Athletic's social media accounts and print material, and she was the primary statistician for the volleyball, basketball, and softball home events.
Before she became a Spartan, Scripter spent three years as the Director of Athletic Communicaitons at Division III Virginia Wesleyan university in Virginia Beach, Va. While at Virginia Wesleyan, Scripter was responsible for the coverage of all 22 intercollegiate teams sponsored by VWU. In addition she was responsible for publicizing and promoting teams via the website, releases, interviews and social media, while serving as the liaison with the local/national media. She also was in charge of nominating coaches/student-athletes for various awards/honors.
Prior to joining the Marlins Athletics staff, Scripter was the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, NC. While at UMO, Scripter was the primary contact for 11 of the 22 sports offered and assisted with the remaining 11 sports. Apart from the normal sports information director duties such as press release writing and stat keeping, Scripter was also the department's primary graphic designer. In 2018, she was tasked with organizing all of the digital media for the Division II NCAA National Baseball Championship as well.
Prior to her experience at Mount Olive, Scripter held the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications at her alma mater, Old Dominion University. Spending a year there, she was the primary contact for three sports. Previous to that, she was the Athletic Communications Assistant at Campbell University.
A native of Norfolk, Va., Scripter is deeply rooted in the seven-cities area. As previously mentioned, she graduated from Old Dominion in 2014 majoring in Sport Management. During her senior year there, she interned for Virginia Wesleyan [College] aiding former Executive Director of Athletics Joanne Renn with her day-to-day duties. Scripter also worked with the Norfolk Tides as a Ticket Sales Intern and is a graduate of Norfolk Collegiate.
