NEW YORK (May 20, 2026) – Howard University men's basketball grabbed three awards at the record-breaking 47th Annual Telly Awards in the general student category for its creative storytelling. The announcement came Tuesday (May 19).

The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, the Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries globally.

"Video has never been more contested, more creative or more consequential than it is right now," said Amanda Needham, Managing Director of The Telly Awards. "The Telly Awards has had a front-row seat to this industry for 47 years and today's entertainment is happening in multiple formats, across every screen and at every budget level."

HU took home the Silver Telly in non-broadcast for the Men's Basketball 2025-26 Anime Schedule Release. Howard also collected a Bronze Telly in social video for the same content.

The program wrapped up with a Silver Telly in online for the Men's Basketball 2025-26 Intro Video.

Winners were chosen by The Telly Awards Judging Council, which features more than 250 experts across the world of video.

On the court, it was a historic year for the program under head coach Kenneth Blakeney. The Bison won 24 games, tying the school record for most wins in a season. More importantly, they won a first round NCAA game for the first time in school history, setting the stage for something special in years to come.

HU finished 23rd on the CollegeInsider.com Men's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll for the first time in its 27 years of existence and looks to build on this season's success for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
