NCCU's Amadi Paces Eagles in Duke Invitational Showing

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central's men's and women's track and field teams closed the weekend with seven top-10 finishes at the Duke Invitational, held April 10-11 at Morris Williams Stadium. Zion Amadi led the Eagles with three top-five finishes.

Amadi placed second in the men's 200m with a time of 21.10 seconds, finishing among a top three that featured two other MEAC competitors from Coppin State and Norfolk State. He also recorded a personal-best 46.91 seconds in the men's 400m to take fifth place. The sophomore capped his weekend by teaming with Isaac Fitzpatrick, Dwan Bell, and Isaiah Fitzpatrick in the men's 4x400 relay, where the Eagles finished fourth in 3:11.00.

NC Central added an eighth-place finish in the men's 4x100 relay, as Bell, Orlando McClean, Theodore Skinner, and Deshaun Johnson crossed the line in 41.29 seconds.

On the women's side, Kaydence Daniels and T'Sheylah Moore contributed strong performances on the track. Daniels placed ninth in the 200m with a time of 24.12 seconds, while Moore set a personal best of 55.41 seconds in the 400m.

In the field events, Rachel Key-White stood out in the women's high jump, clearing 1.68 meters to finish sixth. The freshman also competed in the long jump.

Just outside the top 10 were Malcolm Forbes in the men's triple jump (14.40m, 11th), Aaron Alukunyang in the men's 5,000m (14:06.90, 11th), and Tia Lucas in the women's high jump (1.63m, 11th).

The Eagles enter rival territory next weekend at the Aggie Invitational on April 17-18 hosted by North Carolina A&T.
